Does the idea of leading a school on a farm campus interest you? Would living and working at the top of the South Island with access to the beaches and mountains of Nelson Tasman and the outdoor activities available in the Abel Tasman National Park sound exciting?
The Motueka Steiner School is at an exciting stage in its development and we are looking for an Establishment Principal to lead our school into the future.
After privately operating for 18 years, we are transitioning to a fully integrated school commencing 2021. The school is scheduled to move onto our new farm campus in 2021. The new campus will have 5 classrooms and an administration building. One classroom has been completed and the remaining buildings will be ready early 2021. The new school is situated on 13 hectares of farm land with existing school gardens and an outdoor kitchen that the students have been working in over the past 3 years as part of the Farm to Table programme. The school farm is on the outskirts of Motueka, overlooking the Tasman Sea with views to the Mt. Arthur ranges.
We have a diverse multicultural student population of 80 tamariki from Years 1-8 and are the only Rudolf Steiner school on the top of the South Island. Our school offers a full Steiner/Waldorf curriculum from Playgroup and Kindergarten, through to the end of Intermediate school.
Our new Principal will work with empathy and understanding to build and nurture connections with the children, teaching body, staff, and the families that make up our school community. Are you that person?
An experienced leader with excellent and timely communication skills to ensure staff, tamariki, and whanau are fully engaged in the establishment of the new state integrated Steiner school.
Someone with experience or interest in nurturing Steiner/Waldorf curriculum and values and bringing them forward in Aotearoa’s modern teaching and learning environments.
A strong leader who is able to enhance and evolve the collaborative ethos that has carried the school thus far.
Someone who thrives on the challenge and reward of being accountable for the successful management and leadership of the school.
Someone who is experienced with change management.
We will welcome the successful applicant to join our community at this exciting time, to move the school forward, while keeping the Steiner special character at the heart of our work.
